Recalling my experience landing a Toman / Giant Snakehead using ultralight fishing gear, I realize it was never easy. Every strike demanded perfect timing, the right lure, and complete control over the setup to handle this fierce predator.
This photo has always been a talking point ā I was fishing for Toman at the port behind the spot in the picture, using a 1lb mainline! Naturally, many questioned it, but it wasnāt about skill; it was about mindset. Over ten years ago, ultralight setups were still a novelty, and the goal was simple: āTarik ikan besoā ā to inspire friends to try something new. Teasing friends in the right way opens their minds, making them curious and eager to experiment.
Since 2010, Iāve gradually joined groups, sharing the ultralight concept and helping others understand it. Itās never easy, but the real thrill comes when anglers grasp the technique and enjoy the challenge. A word of caution: trying ultralight setups comes with risks ā you need to own your actions, just like running a red light! And yes⦠looking at this photo, I was so skinny back then! šš£
